Diane Cooper

STAFF Attorney

When a client is looking for a highly experienced litigator, one that will work hard to advance their case, they look to Diane Cooper. Attorney Cooper is such an experienced attorney that other attorneys look to her for professional guidance. Her knowledge, years of experience as a litigator, and her desire to win, set her above her peers.

Attorney Cooper initially came to FAMILYLEGAL with a strong and diverse legal background. She was an Assistant District Attorney for the Essex County District Attorney's Office in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where she was responsible for prosecuting criminal cases. Attorney Cooper has handled over 80 jury trials on various and often complex criminal Matters. Additionally, she has served as an Adjunct Professor at Bay State College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she taught Criminal Justice and other studies. Attorney Cooper is also a member of the City of Peabody, Massachusetts Planning Board and a past participant in the Volunteer Lawyers Project through the Boston Bar Association. Because of her background as a recognized litigator, she is often sought out by prospective clients who want a strong advocate to deal with more problematic or sensitive issues.

It Not The End. It’s The Beginning.

When Attorney Cooper decided to move forward in her career, it was a big decision to leave the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. She enjoyed protecting society by prosecuting criminals and making sure they received the proper punishment for the crimes committed. However, she desired to have a more personal relationship with her clients. Representing society as a whole was meaningful, but she believed it would be more professionally fulfilling to use her court room experience to better the lives of individuals and families within her own community.

To that end, she set out to become affiliated with a law firm that was highly respected and would offer her the ability to grow and be the best attorney possible. She immediately focused on FAMILYLEGAL. To her, the attorneys at FAMILYLEGAL are highly respected in the legal community and they are considered one of the top client-centered law firms in the area. They value their clients and work hard to exceed their expectations in every way possible. “I take my career very seriously. This is how I will leave my mark on the lives I will professionally touch. I needed to be affiliated with a law firm that was equally serious about the quality of the services they provided. With FAMILYLEGAL I knew it was a great fit for me professionally.”

Most Attorneys Are Scared

When it comes to litigating, not all attorneys are created equal. Attorneys like to boast at how they welcome the opportunity to litigate a case in court to conclusion. However, most cases settle on the court house steps immediately prior to trial for one reason and one reason only – most attorneys are scared to go to court. Most attorneys are really intimidated about going to court, having to stand up in front of everyone and argue publicly while the opposing attorney and the Judge pick apart everything they say. True comfort in the court room comes from years of experience litigating combined with proper case preparation and an attention to detail.

Attorney Cooper is one of those rare attorneys that is perfectly at home in the courtroom. Her years of experience have provided her with the necessary knowledge and confidence to go to battle in court. “I see attorneys every day that talk a good game, but when it comes down to going to court they always want to settle. This is when I can negotiate the best deal possible for my clients”, explains Attorney Cooper.

Attorney Cooper offers a FREE Initial Consultation to all new clients. This Consultation allows her to sit down with individuals, listen to their story, discuss their options and, if necessary, map out effective strategies. Her legal strategies are custom tailored to each client’s specific situation and are designed to bring about positive results. Attorney Cooper uses these Consultations to listen to the individual’s story, to identify their objectives, and, if necessary, to help them map out a legal strategy. “Every case is unique and needs to be mapped out from the very beginning. The old say, ‘the devil is in the details’ is very accurate. I take the necessary time from our first meeting to understand my clients’ position. I sit with them at no charge initially to determine what is important to them in their particular case. If they need an experienced advocate who is not afraid to go to court, I am there for them”, say Attorney Cooper.

For Attorney Cooper, the payback for her efforts is in the results she achieves for her clients. “There is no better reward than to exceed my clients’ expectations in every aspect of their case.
